community hospitals. We have chosen to specialize in order to provide an exceptional service and have been
successful since our inception in 1983.
Our President, Lou Masterson, has been assisting executives in transition for almost 30 years. We work
with relatively few searches and individuals on an annual basis, and we take great pride in providing highly
customized, highly personalized services.
Early in our history, our services were senior level outplacement only, and we had mostly manufacturing firms
as clients. Over time, most noticeably in our first ten years, we moved into health care and retained executive
search. Today, the only industry in which we work is health care and our services are predominantly retained
We have a formal relationship with the Ohio Hospital Association and we are a Partner with OHA Solutions, the
for-profit subsidiary of OHA.
Through this Ohio Hospital Association relationship, we have solidified our marketing and service focus to
community hospitals, typically in smaller markets.
We understand community hospitals and the issues their Boards face.
Community hospitals, typically smaller in size and rural or semi-rural in location, are faced with the same
transition, succession, and continuity issues that larger, metropolitan area hospitals face. The differences are
that these smaller and rural hospitals rarely have depth of management or a choice of developed, promotable
associates. Also, the market from which the hospital draws its employees is likely not as robust as a larger
Finally, the Board members and the President, Chief Executive Officer of a smaller hospital recognize the
unique role the hospital plays in the community. In most cases, the hospital is the largest employer in town,
perhaps the county. The community points to the hospital as a matter of significant civic pride. And, serving as
President or as a member of the hospital Board is both a notable privilege and a significant responsibility.
