Lou Masterson

The most important element of our organization, for the client, is the individual with whom he/she will be working. Mr. Masterson will work with the client exclusively. He is President of the firm and has been in the outplacement industry for over 25 years.

Lou's Bachelor's Degree is from the University of Notre Dame, in Political Science and Mathematics; and he has a Master of Business Administration, Marketing and Finance, from the University of Chicago. He is a military veteran having served in the United States Navy as an officer on a destroyer, in a boat squadron in Viet Nam, and on several special assignment teams from the Pentagon.

Prior to his involvement in the outplacement industry, Lou was in key management roles and a management consultant with a national manufacturer, national and regional retailers, and a national service organization.

Previous to starting his own outplacement and search firm, Mr. Masterson was a Senior Vice President and member of the nine-man Executive Committee for the then-largest outplacement firm in the United States.

Mr. Masterson serves a number of community and civic organizations and has established a foundation to fund and support educational interests in the Cleveland area. He was a member of The Fairview Council at Fairview General Hospital; and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeast Ohio, currently serving as President in 2000 and 2001. Lou was on the Board of Directors of Westwood Country Club, and served as its President in 1995-1996.

Mr. Masterson was also a member of the Walsh Jesuit High School Board of Trustees for six years and headed their strategic planning process. He also served as the Chairman of the Upper School Annual Fund parent segment at Laurel School for three years.

A number of years ago, Lou served on the Board of the Association of Outplacement Consulting Firms. AOCF was the leading professional organization in outplacement at the time.

In addition, Mr. Masterson has been widely quoted - including FORTUNE and Business Week - on a variety of Human Resources issues; and he has published a number of articles on senior executive job transition. Also, he has been a three-time guest lecturer at the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University speaking on staffing, selection, and outplacement. Mr. Masterson has presented career transition issues for senior management to the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Hospital Association. He has also presented at the MBA Health Care program at Cleveland State University on job searching and resume development.
